Kaurna acknowledgement
Niina Marni. As we feel the earth beneath us, the wind around us and the sun above us, we acknowledge the Kaurna people, the traditional owners of this land. We pay our respects to past Elders and will work with present and emerging Elders to protect and care for this unique land of ours. We also extend this respect to other First Nations peoples.
Principal's Report
Dear Families,
As the end of the academic year approaches, we look back with immense pride and joy on the myriad of achievements and growth experienced at Linden Park Primary. It is inspiring to see how our students have flourished academically, embraced the International Baccalaureate (IB) principles, and fostered a community spirit that resonates with our core values. From our provocations; wonderings that lead to investigation and then to the generation and synthesis of information that forms new learning.
Each student has embarked on a learning journey, where they are encouraged to consistently demonstrate the tenacity and curiosity that are hallmarks of our learning ethos. Their progress and accomplishments are celebrated within their reports and shared through their in-depth portfolios, which represent a mosaic of their learning experiences, from collaborative projects to individual inquiry.
Class Placement
As we prepare for the next academic year, an important consideration is the class placement process. Our educators have meticulously curated class groupings for the forthcoming year, taking into account each child's unique learning trajectory, social connections, and emotional well-being. This thoughtful process ensures that every student's needs are met, fostering an environment where learning can thrive.
We acknowledge that the bond between a teacher and student is significant. Nevertheless, we kindly remind families that requests for specific teachers will not be entertained. Rest assured, each of our educators brings a wealth of knowledge and a teaching approach that enriches the academic and personal growth of our pupils. We trust in the expertise and insights of our teachers to continue delivering educational excellence.
Whilst we uphold our reputation for academic excellence; we are equally as committed to fostering a nurturing community where lasting friendships are established, and the emotional and social needs of our students are met with care and empathy. We celebrate the success in building a community that supports each other.
Resilience, Tenacity- Success!
After many false starts; we held the Championship Races from Sports-day. The day dawn with a cheeky attempt to rain, but Enzo had stern words with the weather gods and by 9:00am we underway. Congratulations to Cleland, whose captains, Abby, Billy and Ava lifted the shield with pride and humility, acknowledging the efforts of all. Lara and Spencer were crowned the winners of the inaugural 400 metre race.
Holiday Wishes
As we bid farewell to an unforgettable year, our staff and students family extends the warmest of wishes to you for a safe and festive holiday season. May it be a time filled with joy, laughter, and precious moments celebrated with family. The holiday period is an opportunity to rest, rejuvenate, and rejoice in the company of loved ones. We eagerly anticipate welcoming our students back, refreshed and ready for the exciting challenges that await in the next year.
In closing, thank you to our entire school community for your unyielding support and dedication. It is because of you that our institution thrives and our children shine brightly. Happy holidays to all, and cheers to another remarkable year to come!
Warm regards,
Fiona Voigt, Principal

Thank you to all the Odd Bod and Even Stevens SAC representatives for demonstrating great responsibility and communication skills throughout the semester.
Be You
As the school holidays approach, we acknowledge that some students may be away from their friends and usual school supports. This change of routine may cause feelings of loneliness, stress or isolation. Where possible, we encourage parents/carers to connect with families of children who may be vulnerable or at risk during the holiday period.
Be You has the following tips for adults supporting children:
- Encourage them to stay connected
- Social relationships are an important aspect of children’s general wellbeing. Friends can provide both play and support, and spending time with friends is also important for keeping and building existing friendships.
- Encourage them to stay involved
- Whether it is hobbies, clubs or sports – involvement with these can help a child feel connected to their wider community.
- Partake in physical activity
- If your child is feeling down or finding things difficult, physical activities such as walking around the block can help relieve stress and frustration.
- Keeping to a regular routine
- Getting a good sleep each night helps children feel energised, focused and motivated. Getting up and going to bed at the same time each day can help normalise their body clock.
- Help-seeking & support
- School to provide information to families on how to keep children safe over the holidays. Ensure that children who may become more vulnerable during this time have access to support numbers, locally and nationally; and that their parents/carers also are provided with these details.
Please see below contact details for national support services.
Interoception
Interoception is noticing and responding to our body’s physical and emotional state. Interoception can help us understand our bodies and strategies to help regulate our emotions in a safe way.
Have a go yourself!
Butterfly Wings
- In a seated position, place the soles of your feet together and hold them with your hands. The legs are now forming the ‘butterfly wings’. Your elbows can be between your legs or resting on your knees.
- Gently press the knees down to increase the stretch. To add a spine stretch, bend forward from the upper back and reach forward towards your feet. Where did you feel it in your body when we pushed down on our knees?
- Repeat the activity again, but this time focus on your inner thigh muscles.
How did your inner thigh muscles feel while holding that stretch?

Year 2 Ukulele Club
On Friday 24 November, the Year 2 Ukulele Club did a special performance of ‘Roar’ (Katy Perry) at the Early Years French Assembly. Solo singers included Mia, Imogen, Eloise and Minoly.
The Ukulele Club have been working hard on their ukulele skills at recess times every Monday, learning how to hold the instrument correctly, strum and play several chords. This has allowed them to play lots of fun songs like 'Rockin' Allover the World, Iko Iko, Miss Mary Mac, Roar' and more.
It has been a pleasure working with the Year 2 Ukulele Club in 2023!

Out of Hours Sport - Netball
By: Georgia Stockham (LPPS White Coach) .........
Year 3 Linden Park White have had a fabulous year dominating Primary 5. Their passion for netball, skill, ferociousness (and height) have helped us to have a very successful summer and winter season. However, most importantly their enthusiasm, friendship and support of each other has been second to none.
Some of the girls created a banner a few weeks ago to help inspire and support those on court, and it is that sort of thinking that I love to see.
Sadly, at the end of this one of our team is leaving us to move interstate. We will miss you Grace. Our team will not be the same without your enthusiastic game play (both shooting AND defence). Good luck with your new team, they are lucky to have you!!

The girls tried their very best over the weekend and every one of them fought to the last round. They eventually secured a fourth place with only 0.5 points behind the third place.
They all enjoyed this rare opportunity to gain valuable experiences from playing against top players across the country. And most importantly they have shown greater interest in the sport.

Year 5/6 Knockout Tennis
Linden Park Primary crowned best in South Australia!
On Friday 1 December, Linden Park Primary School's boys' and girls' tennis teams showcased their prowess at the School Sport SA Knockout Tennis Finals Day, held at the Seacliff Tennis Club. Both teams, having secured victories in the initial round matchups earlier in the term, approached the day with excitement.
With six teams in each competition earning invitations to the State Final, these were further divided into two pools of three teams each. The boys' and girls' teams found themselves scheduled to face Burnside PS in their opening matches. The boys excelled, securing a 4-2 victory, a result mirrored by the girls against the Burnside Primary School girls team.
Following a bye, both teams faced Reynella Primary School and Maitland Lutheran, respectively. The boys dominated, securing a 6-0 win, ensuring their first-place finish in the pool and a direct qualification into the grand final. The girls, eager to replicate this success, triumphed over Maitland Lutheran with a convincing 6-0 victory, securing their spot in the State Knockout Final.
The Grand Final showdown featured the boys against Stirling East Primary and the girls against Woodcroft College. The girls demonstrated remarkable skill, securing an impressive 6-0 victory, claiming the State Wide Schools State Championship for the Linden Park Primary’s Girls’ Year 5/6 Knockout Tennis team for the second time in three years. Congratulations are extended to Chuyi P, Elaine W, Yifei L, and Kiyara M for their outstanding tournament performance.
In a closely contested match lasting over two hours, the boys faced Stirling East in the grand final. The initial doubles matches favoured Linden Park Primary, with one even going to a tiebreak. Stirling East levelled the score at 2-2 after winning the first two singles matches. The final two singles matches proved to be an intense battle, with the momentum swinging back and forth. Linden Park emerged victorious, securing a 4-2 overall win and joining the girls’ team as State Knockout Champions. This marked Linden Park Primary's first win in the Year 5/6 boys’ tournament since 2011. Jeremy X, Rohan D, Harry J and Martin K should be very proud of their efforts.
The achievement of having both the boys' and girls' teams invited to the finals was extraordinary, and finishing as the number one team in South Australia was an unparalleled accomplishment. It is worth noting that this was the first time in five years that an individual school has clinched the championship in both the boys and girls' competitions.
A huge thank you is extended to all the students for representing the school with exceptional sportsmanship and respect for their opponents throughout the tournament. Special appreciation is also directed to the parent volunteers whose assistance in transporting the teams to Seacliff made the journey possible.

Year 3/4 Hotshot State Metro Final
On Thursday 30 November, Linden Park Primary School was proudly invited to the Year 3/4 Tennis SA Metro Hot Shot State Final. The team was awarded an invitation to the State Final after winning the Adelaide South East Carnival in September.
Tennis Hot Shots School Carnivals provide the opportunity for students of all abilities to play with their school friends and meet other students from surrounding schools. With a round robin style draw, the schools play doubles matches with simple scoring and time keeping to ensure all students are actively able to participate on the day.
Sixteen teams across Adelaide were invited to the State Metro Final after all qualifying by winning their respective district tournaments. Linden Park Primary School demonstrated their expertise by engaging in seven games during the day, clinching the second spot in their pool after encountering only one loss. This remarkable feat positioned LPPS among the top four schools in the state, ultimately leading them to compete for the third-place title in their final match of the carnival. Despite the initial setback of not securing a top-two finish, the team displayed resilience and skill, concluding the day with a commendable third-place finish.
A huge congratulations extends to Jessie L, Sayna V, Evan Y, William K, Oliver D, Lucas S, Asher D, and Billy S, who represented Linden Park Primary with unwavering pride. Special appreciation is also extended to the parents whose invaluable assistance in transporting the team to and from the venue played a pivotal role in achieving this remarkable milestone. Without their support, this accomplishment would not have been possible.
