Thank you

Thank you to Petiola Wilson for welcoming us all to country today at the End of Year Assembly. Petiola is a descendant of the Ngarrindjeri and Kaurna nations.
He is dedicated to keeping Aboriginal culture and language alive and this is seen through his tireless work with community and schools. A smoking ceremony was part of the Welcome today.

Volunteers of the Year

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Sally Clarke and Rachel Conway, for being named Volunteers of the Year for 2024, and to Astrid Gunner for being the runner-up. Their exceptional contributions are truly commendable.

To all our volunteers at Linden Park, your efforts are invaluable, and we couldn't maintain such a wonderful learning environment without your support.

A special thank you to our Governing Council and sub-committee members, especially those who are departing. The school community deeply appreciates your dedication to the smooth operation and management of LPPS.

We also express our gratitude to our students who undertake various service roles within the school. Congratulations and thank you to the Library Monitors, Crossing Monitors, Office Support, Student Wellbeing Leaders, SAC Representatives, Sport Captains and Vice Captains, and our Year 6 Ambassadors. Your time and commitment to the school are greatly appreciated.

Fiona Voigt, Principal

Library Monitors 2024 - Thank You!

A big thank you to our Library Monitors for 2024!

This year saw an increase in students wishing to be library monitors, rising from our 2023 cohort of 33 to 57!

The library monitors assist the younger students with recess and lunch time borrowing, distribute the games, reshelve the returned books and assist students in locating books they wish to borrow!

Linden Park Primary Shines on the National Stage

Linden Park Primary School's girls’ chess team has achieved an incredible milestone, securing third place at the 2024 Australian School Teams Championship held in Perth last weekend.

The team demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, delivering their best performances across five intense rounds. They finished in third place, trailing only Queensland and Victoria, with a remarkable 8.5-point lead over the fourth-placed team. Impressively, Linden Park was the only South Australian school team—across both primary and secondary divisions—to earn a podium finish.

A special highlight was the outstanding performance of first-board player Charlotte C, who completed the tournament undefeated. Her stellar effort earned her the prestigious First Board Prize, awarded to the strongest player in her division across all competing states.

Charlotte, along with her teammates Cindy, April, and Elaine, is thrilled to bring this honour back to Linden Park Primary School.

Congratulations to the team on this well-deserved success—your hard work and dedication have made us proud!

Music News

On Monday 18th November, the Year Ones had a special visit from Simon from Rhythm Culture. Simon brought a carload of djembe drums with him and taught Year One students how to play some simple rhythms on the drums as well as dance and sing in an African language.
The children were very engaged in the activities and particularly enjoyed the African animals story where they were able to use different skills they had learnt in the workshop as part of the sound effects for the story.

On November 22nd, the Year Two Ukelele Club performed Dance Monkey at the Early Years Assembly. This group of dedicated Year Two musicians have been coming to lunchtime practices since Term 2 and have worked hard on their strumming, learning new chords and developing their skills when changing between chords. They have also learnt how to sing along while they play which is not easy for these young students! In Week 7, we celebrated their achievements and they received a certificate and some small gifts and treats to say thank you for all their hard work.

Well done to the Ukulele Club of 2024!
Sebastian, Kai, Claire M, Sera, Riaan, Kiaan, Olivia Y, Sandasi, Leora, Senuki, Chloe, Charlotte, Kinaaz, Eve, Ari, Sophia, Anna, Helga, Audrey, Zara, Ayla, Senuthi and Aadhya.
